Aronia melanocarpa
Plant.—A smooth, thornless, woody shrub growing to the height
of 0.5 - 2 m. Leaves are elliptic or obovate to oblong lanceolate,
acuminate or obtuse at apex up to 1-3 cm in length, glabrous or
nearly so. Margins finely serrate, petiole ¼ cm or less, broadly ovate
in outline, obtuse at apex. Flowers are bisexual, pentamerous and
arranged in corymbose inflorescens. The whitish- pink flowers are
borne in loose clusters of up to 8. Fruit is a purplish-
black globosejuicy berry (pome), 6-15 mm in diameter.
